A 42 year old man from Thibodaux Louisiana pled guilty to third degree murder in the 1993 killing of 15 year old Laura Lynn Thompson. Sentencing set for February 17 with a possible eight to sixteen year term and fines up to 25000. The plea avoids a potential life sentence.
A hearing for Jordan Brown is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on March 5 with defense briefs due February 19. Prosecutors note the case marks almost six years since the February 20, 2009, death of Houk, the defendant's father's fiancée, who was pregnant and died alongside her unborn child at the New Beaver Borough farmhouse.
A New Castle woman, Lisa Herbert, was injured when her Toyota Yaris rolled over on Route 208 in Washington Township around 8 30 a m. The car left the road struck an embankment and trees, flipping onto its roof then back onto its wheels. Fire crews from Volant and Springfield and Naga ambulance extricated her and she was taken to a hospital.
A New Castle resident, Christy Fullwood, and her daughter Callie Johnson were at Monroeville Mall when a gunman opened fire in Macy’s. Tarod Thornhill was arrested on aggravated assault and attempted homicide charges as three people were injured, two critically.
