Disbursements to three local plants totaled $1,645.85. County breakdown includes New Castle American Sheet and Tin Plate $20,895.63, Shenango American Sheet and Tin Plate $18,804.55, New Castle Carnegie Steel $25,034.95, Hillsville Limestone $978.60, Ellwood City National Tube $17,609.25. The fund totals include operating, railroads, iron, coal and limestone mining, shipbuilding, cement, zinc, and offices. The Steel Pension Fund began in 1911 and since then has distributed $29,325,492.67.
James Motes 43 father of Eddie Motes 24 arrested in Marianna by state police for involvement in the November X bank robbery. Authorities say he may have been the brains of the gang and had a Pittsburgh home link. Eddie Motes and Patrick Trades captured shortly after the raid.
