Evacuations urged as train wreck smolders in Ohio
A line of derailed freight cars smolders near East Palestine prompting a 1 mile evacuation zone and air quality monitoring. Norfolk Southern said about 50 cars derailed while carrying varied products from Madison Illinois to Conway Pennsylvania. No injuries reported. authorities monitored from a distance as remediation awaits the blaze. Mayor Conaway declared a state of emergency and said one person was arrested for breaching barricades.

Meadville man faces trial for Mercer County homicide
A Meadville man Johnny F. Henry Jr. is bound over to Mercer County Court on homicide and related charges for the November 2022 death of Joseph DeTello. After a preliminary hearing at the Mercer County Courthouse, arraignment is set for April with a June criminal trial term possible. Union Area High School seniors Joe Deraleau and Emma Murdock are exploring entrepreneurship at The Entrepreneurship Academy at the eCenter LindenPointe. Director Katie Kelly Parr calls the program innovative and focused on economic development. Initiated as a two year pilot in 2014, it now serves 11 districts including Union, Mercer County districts, and the Pennsylvania Homeschool Accreditation Association.
