Industrial waste facility planned near New Castle with 50 million investment
A privately financed venture plans an industrial and hazardous waste treatment and storage site on the North Beaver Mahoning border. The 635 acre Pennsylvania tract would host landfills, a processing center, a lab, and offices, creating 75 to 100 skilled jobs and serving a 250 mile radius from New Castle. The SolidTek Bruce partnership aims for phased construction starting late 1986, with public permit hearings and a February 13 information meeting at Mohawk High School.

Suspect Fremont New Castle Man Sought in Multiple Slayings
Salvador Carlos Santiago, 22, of New Castle, is at large after facing charges in the killing of Dean K. O’Hara, 20, of Butler, whose stolen Cadillac crashed on U.S. 422 in Pulaski Township on Jan. 15. Police say Santiago shot O’Hara in his car then moved him to the stolen vehicle. Santiago is also a suspect in a Pittsburgh homicide and a Sharon bus terminal robbery shooting.
