Bank robber pleads guilty in New Castle bank heist
A 29 year old New Castle man, Joshua Christopher Mele, pled guilty to robbing First Commonwealth Bank at 27 E. Washington St. on Oct. 12 and to driving under the influence. He received two to four years in a state prison for the robbery, plus 90 days to six months for the DUI, with 78 days already served. The two terms run concurrently. Police identified Mele via surveillance video and undercover officers later caught him entering a store on West State Street in Union Township. A search warrant at his home found some of the stolen money hidden behind a wall.
