About 16 ladies and gentlemen attended a Wednesday afternoon and evening event for Mrs Barney’s birthday at Mr and Mrs John Barnes 150 Phillips Street. Afternoon refreshments followed by a lavish supper served at 6. Present were many friends and a cake walk highlighted the night. Gifts included a handsome toilet set from the Golden Eagle lodge.

A carpenter by trade, he was renowned for skillful workmanship and served in church roles at Ne lahannock Presbyterian Church. Survived by widow and five children, funeral Monday at 2 p.m. at Neshannock Cemetery with interment there. Attending from a distance were several family members and friends.

On Wednesday January 25 in at Bazalee Pitzer’s residence in East Moravia James McConnell a respected citizen answered the Anulaum Toone. He suffered for years with kidney disease which caused his death. Born in Lawrence County he resided here for 65 years and had worked for Mr Pfizer. He was brother to Hiram McConnell of Moravia Philip McConnell of Shensnee township and another brother living in Centerville Merver county.
