Peabody Museum’s Rich Paleontology and Antiquities Collection
The Peabody collection rivals American peers in invertebrate paleontology with a vast meteorite trove including Gibbs from Texas and a rare Aztec calendar stone. It houses Chiriqui gold artifacts and hosts the first American mounted dinosaur and first flying reptiles. Spotlighted are Marsh’s Rocky Mountain digs and Verrill’s Atlantic marine cataloging, framing the museum as an ideas-driven institution with carefully labeled exhibits that illuminate natural laws.
