About 9 o clock Sunday night fire was discovered in a small kitchen at the rear of W. B. Thayer household on Shaw street. Central and Highland avenue fire units extinguished the blaze. The one story structure suffered substantial loss with the kitchen building ruined. Total loss estimated around 75 dollars.

A early morning fire on Neshannock avenue destroyed the Bauman frame office between the dwelling and the ice cream plant. Philip H. Neece, a third floor tenant, was burned to death while trying to flee via the inside stairway as flames reached the roof.
