Sheriff Waddington and Deputy Sheriff John Waddington took four prisoners to the workhouse this morning. Walter White and Joe Mercer were sentenced to 30 days for running a gambling room. Neal Mooney received 1 year and 9 months for breaking into a building, and Fred Seracy was jailed 30 days for carrying concealed weapons.

Abraham P. Shaffer, a long prominent Lawrence County resident and Civil War veteran, died Friday at his Shenango township home at age 77. He leaves wife Sarah and seven children, with funeral Sunday at 11 from the family residence and burial in Greenwood cemetery.
