Mitchell Offered Lead Role in Aerial League Plan
Col. William Mitchell suspended from the army for five years over aviation policy disputes has been offered general director of the Aerial League of America. Henry Woodhouse, league president, said the offer would allow unrestricted execution of proposed airways, air cities, and aeronautical projects including four central flying stations for a "flying cure" for deaf persons. The plan envisions 24 transcontinental routes, two air cities, and a Muscle Shoals air junction with land purchased at San Marcial, Sonora.

Wichita Judge Hears Debtors By Phone From Porch
David Leahy of Wichita presides over a small debtors court that accepts only cases under twenty dollars and conducts hearings by telephone with decisions mailed to litigants. Most sessions occur on his front porch as the court functions with no compensation and no appeals have been filed in about 200 cases. The judge also settles disputes informally and occasionally rules on fringe matters, like a color controversy over Wild Bill Hickok’s hair.
