Chestnut Hill millionaire Charles Newbold Welch is baffled by a breach of promise suit filed in Philadelphia courts by Estelle M. Wolon a Chicago realty broker and tea room owner. Welch denies knowing her and says he is happily married. Wolon asserts Welsh promised marriage and was engaged before breaking it off and plans to have her attorney respond after vacation.
James Paw aged 63 was operating a trolley on the Sharpsburg Bridge when a heart attack struck at the controls. The emergency brakes activated as his hand fell from the controller, stopping the car instantly and ending his life.
A man at 1310 East Washington Street fired twice at a suspected robber attempting to unlock a rear door about 11:30 PM. The intruder, described as six feet tall, slender, in a long dark overcoat, fled. Police investigation found evidence of forced entry devices. detectives searched the area with no success.
CHICAGO, Der 20 Two bandits in a running gun battle with police killed prominent architect Robert Wal lace. He drove into the line of fire to avert a crash, was struck by a fatal bullet, while police captured the robbers after three holdups reported by radio. Eight robbers have been killed by cities and police during the past week.
Electricians from P. & O. Electric Company climbed the municipal Christmas tree on the public square today to hang colored lights. The tree will be illuminated this evening marking the city’s annual yule tide decorations in the downtown district.

International News Service reports Victor Hilgers, 27, of Youngstown Ohio, died by poison in a New York hotel room. A note blamed himself and asked for care of Betty and belongings. He had been in the city two months and was a manager at an automobile company.
