Four elderly women were burned to death in a pre dawn fire at Rest Haven convalescent home in North Beaumont Texas. Six other residents were rescued by firemen and neighbors. Seek To Return Man To Cleveland To Face Charges
Cleveland police strive to extradite Louis Statler a 68 year old man from Chicago to Cuyahoga county to face charges that he strangled Gloria Ferry an 18 year old from Altoona Pennsylvania. Federal officials in Chicago refused to turn Statler over without an indictment or a governor's warrant. The Ferry girl was found dead in Brookside Park Cleveland on October 9.
