Pennsylvania redistricting splits Lawrence County amid map shifts
Republicans reveal a plan splitting Lawrence County into two congressional districts. New Castle and the northern area join Mike Kelly’s district into Erie County, while Ellwood City and the southern strip join districts represented by Altmire and Cruz toward Pittsburgh and Johnstown. The map, drawn behind closed doors, reduces Pennsylvania to 18 seats, moves Scranton Wilkes Barre into a Democratic area, and pressures Altmire and Cruz to face off. An initial Senate vote is expected soon as Gov. Corbett’s desk awaits.
