Edenburg Viaduct Opens to Crowd on Ceremony Day

A new Edenburg viaduct and adjacent highway opened on Saturday December 12 marking the 80th anniversary of the old bridge. About 2000 attendees filled the ceremony on the Mahoning River crossing near the B and O and P and L E rail lines. Weather was clear for December and the crowd arrived early with cars lining the approaches. Reverend William F. Galvin led the invocation as the American Legion band played a march and Judge W. Nearly 600 Elks and guests from about twenty lodges gathered in New Castle for the Northwest District Elks association meeting. Exalted Ruler T Earl Dukes and officers welcomed attendees. Masked Bandit Robs Gas Station on New Castle Youngstown Road

At 7 40 p m Saturday a masked bandit armed with a revolver robbed Thomas Grant at the Mahoning Valley Oil Company gas station outside the city limits on the New Castle Youngstown road. He escaped with six dollars after Grant handed over the cash from the register.
