Possible County Tax Millage Increase This Year
County commissioners have not yet set the levy for the coming year but may raise the tax by half a mill. The surplus is exhausted due to bridge work and improvements. They will not decide until property values are accurately determined, with little change expected in farm land values and city and borough valuations likely rising due to new buildings and subdivision. The treasury surplus resulted from a four and one half mill rate, not the current three mill tax.
