A Union Depot was gutted by a fire in the early hours. Firefighters battled flames and secured the scene as crews assessed the damage and began investigations. No injuries reported. The cause was not immediately known.
A weary jury convicts a man in a Minnesota case after deliberations, court records show. The process exhausted jurors as they weighed the evidence and legal instructions before reaching a verdict.
Every seat filled at a noon meeting as P L Craig donates 2000 dollars to the Y M C A. Thirteen thousand ninety six dollars was raised with subscriptions from committee members including 500 200 and 100 dollar pledges. District Attorney Dickey shouted in praise as the crowd roared in approval and the 2000 gift will be divided into 200 increments among Y M C A teams. Continued on Page Eleven.
Charles Reed testified before Alderman Green that Walter Jameson passed a forged check for 6.60 under the name Davis and signed as H B McKibben. The case cites other merchants swindled by similar forgeries. Rosenblum lost 8.60 Bolinger 12.60 and others lesser sums. Attempts to settle failed.
A basement fire at the Union railroad depot on Pittsburg street gutted the building after two o clocks. Every city fire unit except the Seventh ward responded, using six water streams as Chief Connery pegged damage at 10 000 to 15 000 dollars. The blaze spread from the basement to all floors before being controlled by nine o clock with the roof burned away.
Mabel Gordon was arrested on a larceny charge by Policeman Weddell before Alderman Ranney. County Detective Breen made the arrest. The alleged theft occurred at East Side pharmacy where a clerk says a leather bag worth $6 was taken. The bag was recovered after she reportedly discarded it. She was held for the Marebh term of court in default of $300 bail.
Dr. Robert A. Wallace testified that McCloud died from blood poisoning due to wounds, not from a brain blood clot. The testimony shaped jurors' opinions on the cause of death and the case's direction.
The court secured a jury for the Larry Guinaugh murder case after exhausting regular and special panels. Jurors from several wards and towns were summoned as testimony began with Mrs. Harry Hofius, relations of the dead man, present. The Commonwealth outlined the fatal wounds tied to the June 20 incident at the Laufayatts hotel and Dr. Wallace described McCloud’s decline and death from blood poisoning.

The J N Euwer Sons store posts a registry clock notice urging employees to contribute to a $100,000 Y M C A building fund. The employer pledges to match contributions, with eight payments over two years beginning February 1 1911, asking all faiths to join and participate within feasible amounts.

In Philadelphia on December 13 charges and countercharges flew as Herbert Mason Clapp is wounded at home. His wife, former hotel manicurist, is out on $2,500 bail on assault with intent to kill. Clapp lies in hospital under guard facing a similar charge.
The Water Company raises a public dispute demanding the erection of a stand pipe. Officials have not yet stated a clear resolution, and residents await action.
Fourth ward citizens fill the room as the council debates water pressure. The city clerk is instructed to notify New Castle Water Co to erect a standpipe on the East side at once or water bills will be refused. Officials cite fulfilled contract on the East side reservoir but say growth shifted responsibility to the city, likely sparking a legal battle.
Reverend John Snape former pastor of First Baptist New Castle and now leader in Utica N Y visits the city today. He will lecture tonight at First Presbyterian on How to Find Yourself. He accepted the Utica call three years ago and has found success there. He is a neighbor of Vice President Sherman and enjoys New York state almost as much as Pennsylvania. He is entertained at the home of Mr and Mrs J Q L Roberts Carlisle Street during his stay.
The Shenango presbytery convened Monday evening at Mahoningtown Presbyterian Church with Rev. W. G. McConnell presiding as moderator. The first evening featured a church lecture and no business was recorded. Tuesday morning was devoted to routine matters.
