Jos F. Hannon, Democratic member of the Lawrence County Board of Commissioners, died suddenly at the office on Thursday. A native of New Castle, he had long been identified with public life and served in local government.
Joseph Francis Hannon 72 Democratic member of the Lawrence County Board of County Commissioners died at 10 15 p m Thursday at his home 1419 West Washington street after a paralytic stroke He had been at the county office in the morning and remained able until a dinner table stroke felled him He first took office January 1909 and was serving his second term His death closes a long record of public service with on page two continuing report of the event.

J L Matthews says the Boyles field ground slopes too much while workers continue evaluating other fields and potential pond sites for a boys and girls rink.

The meeting drew large attendance and showed rising interest.
New York City moves to speed up its $40 million low cost housing program under pressure from Nathan Straus and U S Housing Administrator. Mayor LaGuardia ordered full steam ahead after Straus demanded changes to conform to federal policy, revising the city plan to avoid losing funds.

In Coitsville a 33 year old wife Anna Eckis Cowden was killed and husband Henry Cowden 40 shot critically in a home massacre shortly after midnight. Their 10 year old son Raymond Swan witnessed the scene as police and neighbors gathered and a 32 caliber revolver was found on a dining chair.
William Zich a 43 year old hunter from Enon Valley died after 30 hours lost in near zero cold near St Marys. A search party led by Sheriff Thomas Valentine found him unconscious in the woods. He was carried three miles to an ambulance and pronounced dead. coroner Dr J G Hayes said exposure was the cause.
In Philadelphia on December 10, tiny Patsy, weighing 38 ounces at birth, enters her third day with hope for life. Dr. Alfred Miller presides over care as Patsy, one of the city's smallest infants, remains fragile. Patsy is the daughter of Mary Yinko, a gypsy fortune teller, and Stephen Yinko, 22, who planned a Christmas party to celebrate.
German engineer George Weidmann confessed to killing five people including dancer Jean De Koven during an European tour with her aunt in Paris. He led police to a murder villa where he lured and disposed of the victim and a ransom note confirmed her death.
Clerk Thomas Edmunds says about 300 to 400 voters registered at the permanent registration bureau have become ineligible to vote due to two years of nonparticipation. He is reviewing registration books to identify those affected.
Franklin Pa December 10 Marianville on the Venango Clarion county border reported two below zero the coldest in northwestern Pennsylvania. Hampton Station was two above Franklin 8 Oil City 11 Titusville 10 with Sandy Lake Stoneboro Harrisville Rockland and Emlenton at 6 and 5. The cold blast centered in Clarion county and main highways remained open though rural roads were badly drifted.
