City council re enacted the six o’clock closing for all non essential shops with exceptions for grocery stores meat markets perish able food sellers barber shops and shoe repair shops The ban lasts until Friday when further action will be debated A large crowd of merchants liquor dealers and others attended the session led by Mayor Newell and the gathering turned tense before the resolution was presented.
President Wilson will officially call on Pope Benedict XV at the Vatican on December 23, as reported. Cardinal Gasparri and Thomas Nelson Page have traveled to Paris to meet the president, with plans to spend Christmas in Rome. Earlier reports said Mrs. Wilson would join him in London over Christmas.

He helped a lieutenant as an aide and drilled part of the time while serving in the infantry with six other Chinese Americans at Camp Sherman.
A Copenhagen despatch reports Bolsheviks in Munich control the Bavarian capital and extremist riots intensify in Berlin. Ten thousand Republican guards are said to be deployed to thwart counterrevolution, with many arrests as radical groups gather nationwide. A French general briefly appeared amid the fighting.
Champ Clark speaker of the house told the opening of the Southern Commercial congress in Baltimore that President Wilson will secure freedom of the seas at the peace conference and that American foreign trade must grow to preserve prosperity and an idle merchant marine. President Wilson asked Dr. Harry A. Garfield to join Henry P. Davison Bernard Baruch on the proposed European reconstruction mission. The group, with other wartime leaders abroad, will oversee Europe's rehabilitation and align reconstruction with existing war administration efforts.

Coates was postponed from 10 o'clock this morning to next Friday morning because Anderson was not able to attend.

Anna Elizabeth Kane 15, daughter of Mr and Mrs Peter Kane of McClelland avenue, died Sunday at 2 PM in the emergency hospital of influenza pneumonia. Parents and one brother Richard Kane are ill in hospital. another brother Edward died last week and was buried Tuesday. She leaves another brother John. Funeral Wednesday at 9 AM in St Marys church.
A court heard a petition this morning to sell the real estate of the late Samuel Donaldson. The action seeks court approval to liquidate the property as part of settling the deceased’s estate.
Clair Powell, of 1595 West Washington Street, has not returned home after leaving with another boy during a trip to the war exposition in Pittsburg. The companion was found in McKeesport, but Powell remains missing. He wears a light suit, long trousers, blue sweater with red stripes, black shoes, rubbers, and a stocking cap. has black eyes.
London reports that all German warships under construction are to be handed over to the allies immediately despite Berlin protests. Lists of ships built or building are to be supplied within 48 hours, with the Mackensen cruiser to be towed to a specified harbor.
