Pennsylvania Supreme Court to review faculty background checks
Harrisburg AP The Pennsylvania Supreme Court will decide if the State System of Higher Education trampled faculty union rights by unilaterally requiring criminal background checks and arrest reports for all employees or only those likely to interact with minors. The case stems from 2014 15 laws tied to protecting minors on campus and a 2014 2015 amendment limiting coverage. unions argue bargaining must occur, while the system says it is a managerial prerogative to ensure safety.
