Ohio prison records report Mrs Anna Marie Hahn died in the electric chair at the Ohio State Penitentiary in Columbus. She collapsed before the chair and pleaded for mercy, crying for her twelve year old son Oscar as witnesses watched.

A fire at 2:30 this morning destroyed a home owned by Judson C. Shannon of 1920 Moravia Street just outside the city in Taylor Township. Loss estimated around 33000 with limited insurance. firemen laid 1300 feet of hose and could not save the structure. Shannon was home alone. his wife Nan was at New Castle hospital with their baby. The origin of the blaze is undetermined.
An eight passenger and four crew airliner operated by the Japan Aviation corporation crashed today off Naha in Okinawa prefecture. The fate of all aboard was unknown as SOS signals indicated engine trouble after departure from Taihoku at 6 30 a m bound for Fukuoka. Search parties were dispatched.
Rodney Greig, 21, a Berkeley railroad worker, confessed to the murder of Leona Wright, 22, a former UC co-ed, after police found a hunting knife, locket, and rings in his car. He described secret early morning trysts and a talk of self death with the victim in East Oakland.
Laurenti Ba rea, former chief of the Georgian republic, is named Soviet commissar for home affairs succeeding Nikolai Yezhov. Pravda announced Yezhov left the OGPU position "at his own request" and Ba rea takes over effective immediately.
