Grand jury urges juvenile prison building and bridge fix
The grand jury recommended a new building to confine youths away from adults with room for sleeping and minor cells. They also urged action against the Western Allegheny Railroad for a neglected East New Castle bridge and repairs to Highland Avenue, court room updates, a new sheriff’s bell line, and other courthouse improvements. Bridges Could Raise County Millage for Bridges to Ellwood Hazel Dell
The newly elected county board may spend 150 000 to 200 000 on bridge projects including a steel Ellwood City to Hazel Dell span near 75 000 and a 35 000 to 40 000 Neshannock Street crossing. Seven year old shoots sister in Mazeppa incident
