Pasadena hosts an anti Japanese backlash after society figures refuse to attend a ball for the Japanese navy officers. Admiral Yashiro cancels schoolchildren visits to the ships and plans to depart early amid growing tension.
Ed J. O'Brien sues Joseph Mann claiming a $250 commission for selling a 17 acre farm five miles from the city on the Pittsburg road for $5000. O'Brien alleges a written five percent contract and that T W Hamilton viewed the property with Mann, who then sold to Hamilton for $5000. O'Brien says the sale resulted from his efforts and the property remained his responsibility after signing.
Volunteers of America in this city arrange the annual Christmas dinner to serve several hundred of the poor. Each holiday season they organize efforts to bring joy to families and neighbors, preparing a meal for those in need on Christmas Day.
Dan Miller spotted a man at the Diamond Washington street trying to post letters in a fire alarm box. He had the letters in hand and opened the box before an alarm could be triggered. Fire Chief Connery noted such box misuses are not uncommon and can summon Central firemen.

Sixty three patients from the city are housed in Dixmont Warren Polk and Warnersville with quarterly costs totaling hundreds of dollars. The county also pays about $225 per quarter for additional cases. Eight or ten new admissions occurred last quarter while only two or three were discharged.

George Cunningham, a runaway lad from Beaver Falls, is held at the city lockup after being picked up on the streets this morning by Patrolman Horner. He was trying to sell needles and pins to pay car fare and finally admitted his home is in Beaver Falls, where his parents live at 1800 Third Avenue.

In Poughkeepsie New York a fire at the Thompson house boarding place forced a dozen residents to flee in night clothing. Mrs Susan Jenkins 76 died after being carried from the fourth floor and her daughter Louisa 26 was dying at Vassar Hospital. The fire began in the furnace room.

Joseph Jackamo of Croton Avenue was injured at the Lehigh Portland Cement works when a runaway dinkey engine rolled downhill on snow. The engineer and fireman escaped injury. Jackamo, stuck on the engine, was bruised but not seriously hurt and will miss work for several days.
