Truck Fire Kills Driver In New Bedford Crash
A truck driven by George Hoagland of Youngstown overturned on a curve near the Presbyterian church in New Bedford and burst into flames. Hoagland, alone in the closed cab, could not escape and died from severe burns. Neighbors alerted by the blaze, as Mrs. Ekis watched from her nearby home, and constable Robert W was called as investigators began. Continued on page two.

Two Arrested in Grove Street Robbery Attempt
Police arrested John Dagres and George Leasure on suspicion of breaking and entering during an attempted robbery at the H. G. Preston Wholesale Company on Grove Street. Dagres, claiming residence at 536 Grant Street, Youngstown, and Leasure at 1137 East Brook Street, were held for charges to be filed later. An accomplice fled but was later apprehended. Officers H R Richards John Moore Ralph Criswell and M J Young responded after a window was found broken. Dagres hid near an iron beam as officers searched the building.
