Aliquippa Police Chief Charles Sorok was reinstated by the Aliquippa Civil Service Commission after being ousted July 12 amid a gambling raid. The panel dismissed charges of inefficiency, but ordered department reforms and full back pay for the period out of office.
Gov. George M. Leader rejected a Republican plan to cut appropriations raise revenue estimates and impose a 2 percent sales tax.
