Florence residents provide most reliable updates. unverified report mentions a Northwestern train wreck with 12 fatalities.

Gen Byng’s forces push toward the Albert Arras railway and the Ancre flank. in three days of fighting near the Oise and Aisne rivers the Allies seize 10 000 prisoners. Haig now commands the troops along the Oise Aisne line northwest of Soissons with French troops subordinated to his command.
Paris reports six more towns captured by French forces in the Oise Aisne sector as Noyon lies nearly surrounded by French troops east of the Oise. Haig announces a new British offensive between the Somme and Ancre with 2000 to 3000 prisoners taken yesterday.
Edenburg Pa resident L. L. Toy reports three sons earn stars for active service. Private James Alexander Toy, 30, enlisted May 1917 in Cleveland and serves with Co C 51st Infantry now in France after Camp Forest training. Jesse Lincoln Toy, 23, logged multiple camps and transfers before sailing May 8 for France. now on the firing line. John Grant Toy, 32, moved through Camp Sherman and Camp McArthur to 21st Heavy Artillery. sailed May 25 for France, now on the firing line. Four Toy nephews also serve as World War I grinds continue.
War department officials today directed a call to the state draft bureau for 2,500 Pennsylvania men qualified for general military service to Camp Forest Georgia starting in September. The total entering military service during the first week of September rises to about 15,500 men.
Victor Harboda of New Castle writes from a French hospital after being wounded July 21 at Soissons while serving in the 28th Infantry. He says he was hit in the right arm by a shell, received Red Cross care, and that General Pershing spoke to the wounded. He mentions seven frontline pushes and three miles of enemy retreat.

All persons aged 21 on August 24 1918 and since June 5 1918 must register. The local draft board for Lawrence County outside New Castle will hold registration at the courthouse New Castle Pa between 9am and 9pm on Saturday August 24 1918.
American aviators in France claim two enemy planes shot down in two consecutive sorties in the Lorraine sector Wednesday evening. American bombers raided Longuy and Unlocman with success.
