Manhattan steam pipe blast kills 3

A massive steam pipe explosion on East 20th Street near Third Avenue in Manhattan closed a street and left three people dead. Dozens were injured including Consolidated Edison workers Steven Walsh and Joseph Malfatti, while Ellen Sauer was killed as a resident watched from her window. Firefighters and utility crews continued repairs as authorities investigate the cause, with the area expected to remain closed for days.

Search for bodies of 57 partygoers continues

London remains tense as rescuers lift the Marchioness hulls and hunt for more victims after a Bowbelle barge collided with the party boat in central London. Man famed for lion work killed in camp

conservationist George Adamson, known for rearing lions with his wife Joy and featured in Born Free, was shot dead at his Kora National Reserve camp in Kenya. He was a British resident in his early 80s, killed Sunday about 160 miles northwest of Nairobi, according to officials.

Union to open as planned in Union Area School District

PTL founder Jim Bakker faces 24 counts of criminal fraud and conspiracy as jury selection starts in federal court. Wolff calls county fair one of the neatest in state
