Refusing Liberty On Writ For Praying Miners In Oklahoma
Oklahoma City August 1 The criminal court of appeals denied four Henryetta miners liberty on a writ of habeas corpus until a hearing on conspiracy charges. The United Mine Workers had sought the writ after Sheriff John Russell ordered the miners to cease praying at the mine. The governor and sheriff argued the prayers were picketing against a strike.
