He faces extortion charges from Mrs. Mary Altier who says she paid him and his brother Tony $65 under threat of death. Tony Micco seeks habeas corpus relief as bail is set at $2,000. another information may follow.
Samuel Stewart Jackson, father of Colonel Oscar L. Jackson and a longtime New Castle resident, celebrates his 92nd birthday at 128 North Mercer Street. Born in 1815 on a nearby farm, he has witnessed the city’s growth and remains active in mind and body. His friends wish him continued health.
A new state law requires undertakers to prepare and forward death certificates to district registrars before any body disposition. It shifts duties from attending physicians to undertakers and also requires registrars be provided with infants names when birth certificates omit them.
The funeral for Mrs. W. W. Wood will be Tuesday at 2 PM at her sister Mrs. Cc. C. Allerton's home 59 North Street with burial at Greenwood cemetery. Her husband Wick W. Wood traveled from Fargo South Dakota after learning of her death. He had planned to move his wife and daughter Miss Edna to the west next month.
The third death from cholera infantum in two days involves Delina Simoni, nine months old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pasqualli Simoni of 410 South Mercer Street. She was buried Monday at 10 AM in St. Vitus cemetery. The city has seen an alarming rise in infant deaths, with two of three in recent months due to cholera infantum.

An August 19 dispatch from Morocco reports Moors assaulting Casablanca failed after fierce fighting. Lack of ammunition forced the Moors to withdraw as French forces under General Drude repelled the attack with naval and land gunfire. Thousands of Moors participated and pressed forward again after initial repulse.
Brass bearings and other mechanical parts worth several hundred dollars were stolen from the new electric crane at the Baltimore and Ohio South Mill street freight offices on Saturday night. The theft occurred under bright dispatcher lights with no alarm raised and no clues. Crane completion will be delayed until replacement parts are obtained.

Mrs. John A. McGonigle the citys only lady undertaker suffered a bad fall Saturday evening. She bruised her arm and endured a nervous shock after tripping in the house, with friends expressing sympathy for her injuries.
A Black Hand letter campaign and a dynamite explosion in front of Dominick Testa's home led to a demanded payment. Testa paid $60 to Joe Cutrone after threats and revised charges connect Cutrone to a broader conspiracy with Tutino and Serace amid arrests in Lowellville.

Jacob Pawlowski a well known Polish merchant of Oakland Avenue died Saturday at 2 pm after a period of illness. He was 55 and ran a Oakland grocer for six years. Survived by son Stanley and daughter Mrs Katherine Pilch. grandson Boleslaw predeceased at six months. Funeral Tuesday 9 am at St Marys Polish Church with burial at St Josephs Cemetery.
Miss Sue Harvard of Second Presbyterian Steubenville sang a solo at Emmanuel Baptist Church East Reynolds Street as part of a special service nearly all song. Participants included Miss Margaret Davis Miss Kate Thomas J Lee Will Harvard Tom Hopkins and John T Thomas with a recitation by Lillian Bonna.
F B Handel of Handel and Co. travels to Youngstown to conduct the funeral of David Job who was shot by his sister in law Miss Sabina Kelley and died in hospital. Kelley faces murder trial.

A steel mill halted operations Saturday evening for a general overhaul and will stay dark until September 1 or later. Mill men said repairs are extensive and several workers left the city, planning to return when notified of resumption. The prior week’s extreme heat made work especially grueling for those who had labored for months without rest.
