Hundreds of families gathered at the Lawrence County Fair show arena for a dairy night featuring children guiding dairy cows and calves to the ring. The annual event started 29 years ago with grandparents, parents, and relatives watching auctions of baskets amid a festive dairy oriented display.

Bruce L. Castor Jr., 54, was sworn in as Pennsylvania's acting attorney general, succeeding Kathleen Kane after her resignation and conviction. Castor, a former district attorney, played a key role in the Cosby case by later defending his decision not to charge Cosby years ago and testifying that the decision was binding.
New Castle police arrested 24 year old Dasure Taylor of 509 East North Street in Mahoningtown after a tip from the U S Marshals Service. Sheriff said Taylor admitted to the July 12 shooting at Bollinger Playground following questioning.
Jean F. Lasday, 83, of Tampa Florida, and Ronald L. Stuck, 71, of New Beaver Borough, are named in the jail page A3 obituaries with notices carried on page A5.
