Aircraft Guns Fail In Tests At Mitchell Field
International News Service reports that at Mitchell Field New York August 18 aviation officers hailed a test at Port Depont Hockaway Paint as a victory for the air service. Anti aircraft guns registered only nineteen hits out of 16 000 shots, a result officials called a vindication of Col William Mitllhall. Army officials remained reticent on details saying the test showed no great advance in ground defense against airplanes. Poor visibility postponed main tests. Spectators on shore saw bursts of searchlights amid the spectacle.
