Prisoner Wins Freedom In Habeas Corpus Case
Frank Campos, 42, of Erie, freed in Pittsburgh common pleas court on a writ of habeas corpus. Judge W Heber Dithrich ruled a second five to ten year sentence for escaping Centre county jail was illegal, reducing it to one to two years. Campos had been jailed since 1920 for larceny and breaking and entry, escaped Centre jail in 1924 and again later. the hearing was attended by Campos but he did not testify.
