Local officials seek 7500 funding for domestic violence program
District Attorney Mangino and Jeannette Rice of the Lawrence County Women's Shelter asked commissioners for a 7500 contribution to support a Violence Against Women grant that totals 30000. The federal grant is 7500 less than last year, while the county would contribute 5000 less than the prior year. The program funds wages for ADA Paula Cialella and notes a 33 percent rise in prosecutions from 1998 to 1999 with more convictions and funding for police training and protocols.
