Daniel McMurtrie Gregg Pennsylvanian Civil War General
Daniel McMurtrie Gregg born April 10 1842 in Huntingdon Pennsylvania and died August 7 1916 in Reading Pennsylvania. He rose from cadet at West Point to colonel of the Eighth Pennsylvania Cavalry and brigadier general of U S Volunteers in the Army of the Potomac. He led cavalry at Brandy Station Gettysburg and other campaigns. He later served as consul at Prague and as Auditor General of Pennsylvania and led the Pennsylvania Commandery of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion. He authored a Gettysburg Campaign work and married Ellen F Sheat.

Mercer Pa August 7 On August 11 Sheriff W A Bone will auction the holdings of Central OH and Gas company Grove City including four miles of pipeline from Wolf Creek wells to Grove City tanks. Officers Thomas Morris president and W B Perral treasurer. The sale covers wells in Wolf Creek and pipeline tanks used to store oil once pumped to Grove City by tank cars.

GROVE CITY PA Aug 7 The third annual Glencoe club Scotch picnic features a Kible band from Youngstown to lead the parade and many dancers from Cleveland and Pittsburgh competing for gold silver and bronze medals. An Erie General Electric team will play Glencoe in a soccer football match and a pony race is added for boys. Entries are open to all and prizes include oldest Scotch man or woman.

Main Street Paving Finished in Erie to Pittsburgh Route
The Main street paving project completed yesterday replaces brick with a concrete base and asphalt surface from the city building on East Main to West Main, part of the Erie to Pittsburgh highway. Allegheny Paving Co. completed the work started last June, with state paving 29 feet and 9 feet by property owners.
