Residents fear Wal-Mart threat to Big Wheel jobs

John Burick of Adams Street warned county commissioners that a Wal-Mart purchase of 21.84 acres in Shenango Township could threaten 300 jobs at Fishers Big Wheel in Neshannock Township. He urged the panel not to sell county land next to Hill View Manor as talks continue with Wal-Mart, which bid $650,000 though below the county’s fair value. Big Wheel, facing Chapter 11, has 65 stores. Burick argued residents should support Big Wheel and oppose the Wal-Mart sale to protect local jobs.
