Firefighters recovered 68 year old David W. Sweesy from Connoquessing Creek after he jumped from the Fifth Street bridge. Deputy Coroner P. O. Contrucci ruled death by own action citing despondency over health. He was pronounced dead at 9:20 a.m. and taken to Kenneth C. Turner Funeral Home.

A 10 year old Scott Township youth Jay Allen Graham was shot in the head while Dale Scarberry 18 attempted to unload a .22 pistol at 6 15 pm at his Harlansburg home.
