Bulgarian government vows to punish those responsible for downing an Israeli airliner last week with 58 lives lost. Officials say the El Al Conftellation was shot down after violating Bulgarian airspace, with 12 Americans among the dead. The inquiry cited hastiness by anti air units and steps not taken to force the plane to land.

A 60 year old Cumberland county farmer faces a murder charge after he fired a fusillade in the Carlisle courthouse killing attorney John D. Fuller Jr and wounding his wife and others including Judge Mark E. Garber and lawyer George Black. Court stenographer George Geiger wrestled the gun away seconds after the shots.
The 11 American fliers freed by Communist China were reported to have reached Canton in South China and U S officials expected their return flight to freedom on Thursday. The Royal Observatory predicted rain and fog for Thursday but officials said no delay was planned for the reunion.

In Portland Indiana a 13 year old boy Thomas Eugene Feierstein weighed 230 pounds due to a thyroid condition shot his sleeping mother Loretta 39 with a .22 caliber bullet through the left eye. He then killed himself in a soybean field behind the house.
Metropolitan Life Insurance announces a new one story brick district headquarters on Wilmington Rd at Elizabeth St. Edwin L. Barker says work will start soon on a 50 by 9 building with an agents room clerical room district manager office and three conference rooms. James G. Hilliard, 37, of Prospect, died at Butler County Memorial Hospital from injuries after his car struck the rear of a steel laden truck on Route 422 three miles west of Prospect. Truck driver John W. Harbison, 42, of Sarver, survived with injuries. Hilliard’s death marked Butler County’s 18th fatality of the year, compared with ten in the same period of 1954.
