Mrs Lloyd Powell aged 51 of New Castle Energy died in a collision near West Memphis Arkansas during a vacation trip. Her husband Lloyd Powell operator of Powell Heating Service suffered a fractured skull and was hospitalized. Their eight year old grandson Kenneth was severely injured with a broken arm a broken leg and a fractured collar bone. Mrs Powell leaves behind her husband two sons Ralph of Washington and Frank Powell of this city plus two sisters.

Police at Rio Bueno and Iquique Sunday night rescued 39 people isolated for six days by eruptions of Nilahue and Rinihue volcanoes. Survivors hid in caves after the eruptions cut food for three days. Hollywood mourns 25 year old Robert Charles Francis known as Willie Keith in The Caine Mutiny after a Beechcraft Bonanza crash near Lockheed Air Terminal in Burbank. Also dead are George Meyer 36 an actor's agent and Audrey Ann Dosch 24 mother of three. Meyer had been teaching Francis to fly as the plane stalled at 150 feet and spun into flames 300 yards from the runway.
Tokyo police report 54 people most of them children drowned Sunday as crowds fled the extreme heat at beaches lakes and river resorts in Japan.
In Tokyo two children were found dead from suffocation as a refrigerator placed outside for repairs became their hiding place. The incident occurred while they played hide and seek near the appliance.
Hong Kong dispatch reports Communist China will release 11 American airmen identified as spies held since the Korean War.
