Barbara Jane Mackle, once buried alive during a high profile 1968 kidnapping near Atlanta, married real estate heiress Stewart H. Woodward in a 10 am ceremony at St James Roman Catholic Church in Philadelphia. The groom is a Wharton student and the couple met at Emory. Witnesses included Barbara’s brother Robert Mackle and Phyllis Woodward. The couple planned a honeymoon in New England.

Denis M. Meyers, an 18 year old freshman from Philadelphia, died at Centre County Hospital Bellefonte after a gunshot wound in Simmons Hall dormitory. She was found by another student in her dorm room and pronounced dead at 10:43 p.m. EDT. State police gave no further details on the shooting.

Trial continues in Lycoming County murder case
Lycoming County District Attorney Allen Ertel said Sam Henne, 20, Cogans Station, was to testify today at the murder trial of Barney Russell, 19, in the December slaying of state trooper Gary Rosenberger, 26, an undercover narcotics agent. The widow of the trooper testified about her husband's last words. Henne would substantiate Thursday testimony by Frank E. Sechrist, 20, who said he gave Russell a .22 pistol the day before the shooting.
