Klink earns Democratic nod in 4th District race

Private citizen Ron Klink won the Democratic nomination for Pennsylvania s 4th District, defeating state Rep. Mike Veon and others. Klink captured 45 percent of the vote, with Frank LaGrotta last in a four person field. He will face Dr Gordon R Johnston in November.

Fee wins Democratic nomination for 9th district seat

State Rep. Thomas J. Fee, 61, secured a wide margin victory in the Democratic primary for the 9th district General Assembly seat, defeating four challengers as he seeks a 13th two year term. Fee totaled 5,985 votes, 57.77 percent, with Angelo A. Papa Jr. second at 2,182 votes. He will face Republican Frank Harvan, who ran unopposed and drew 4,207 votes, in November.

Yeakel Upsets Singer In Democratic Senate Bid

Lynn Yeakel, a fund raiser for women's causes, defeats Lt. Gov. Mark Singer to win the Democratic nomination for Senate in Pennsylvania. She faces Republican Sen. Arlen Specter, who easily defeated state Rep. Stephen Freind. With 96 percent of precincts reporting, Yeakel had 542,503 votes to 399,292 for Singer. Specter led Freind 664,463 to 0. Other finishers included Robert Colville and Lyndon LaRouche follower Philip Valenti, among others.

Clinton and Bush win large in Pennsylvania primary

In Pennsylvania Clinton defeats Brown 56 to 26 percent as Bush leads Buchanan 77 to 23 percent. Clinton wins Lawrence County with 58.1 percent while Brown and Tsongas split the remainder. Bush accumulates 66.36 percent with Buchanan at 23.38 percent. Brown and Buchanan pledge to continue their campaigns.

Not Guilty Verdict In Pulaski Murder Case

Floyd Robinson was acquitted of aggravated murder and robbery in the January 1991 shooting death of Mario Sapanero in Youngstown. The second trial followed a mistrial in January after nearly 13 hours of deliberation, with witnesses including Sapanero’s wife Patricia and friend Michael Chrobak testifying about a drug deal gone wrong.
