Thomas Irwin, 31, a parolee and liquor store robber, escaped the Allegheny county jail by sawing a bar and lock, then fled across Liberty Bridge. A Carrick motorist spotted him on a rail roof and alerted workers. Irwin was recaptured hours later in a north side home.
