British and Greek troops pressed to hold lines north of Athens as Nazi forces attacked Megara with heavy air raids from 29 miles west. Reports say Sudanese troops captured Fort Mott near the Abyssinian frontier, taking numerous Italian officers and soldiers.
In the Pittsburgh metropolitan region daylight saving time shifts will occur, but New Castle and nearby districts will observe Eastern Standard Time this Sunday morning. Some schedule impacts will appear in radio, rail, and bus listings. A few towns will switch tomorrow while Sharon and Ellwood City stay on EST.

Washington April 26 In spite of the largest tax bill in history an examination of appropriation records shows virtually no cut in non defense supply bills. The economy bloc hopes the 3.5 billion budget measure will prompt broader calls for curbs before budget action. The first big test comes next week as a joint conference committee weighs the farm supply bill boosted to a record 1.34 billion by the Senate.
Nearly 150 Boy Scouts from Lawrence county troops took over city and county governments for three hours to learn how things run. Orion J. Brown an alleged con man was questioned by Chicago and Texas investigators over the murder of Mrs Isola Frances Murphy. The 45 year old poetess of Marton Indiana was slain and Brown, 50, was nabbed in his North Side apartment by Sheriff H L Wilbanks of Spearman Texas and Chicago homicide officers.
Rome reports the Italian press bitterly attacked President Roosevelt Secretary Hull and Secretary Knox over declarations on increased American aid to Britain. Newspapers warned of serious consequences from the so called disguised American convoys.
Secretary of the Navy Knox, speaking to about 1,000 naval engineers, rejected Nazi accusations that he seeks war with America. He urged Americans not to heed Germany’s promises to keep out of conflict and stressed the need for strong naval power and steady progress to secure peace through strength.
Lawrence county farmers stake was described as a 22 million investment in lands buildings equipment livestock with an annual return of 3.5 million by County Farm Agent Harold R. London April 20 British forces repelled a dawn attack on Tobruk at the Libyan port. An official communique said the enemy, supported by artillery, attacked from Acroma on April 24 and was broken up with many dead left behind.
Washington April 26 diplomats from 21 Latin American republics including the United States unanimously adopt a plan to requisition idle foreign flag vessels in American ports. The Pan American Union resolution lets each republic determine methods of seizure and aims to defend nations and secure economies with just compensation under international law.
Gloucester New Jersey April 26 police faced another brutal murder in less than a week. Anna Mocharnuk 53 was found bludgeoned on her Williamstown area farm after a fatal attack that left her head crushed and her pet chow dead. Her husband works in Jenkintown Pennsylvania. A suspect in a related Blackwood case is said to be a Negro arrestee.
Mrs. Amy Baldwin age 64 of the New Castle Ellwood City road is noted. Mrs. Charles Mancine aged 29 of 120 East Long avenue is listed among local notices.

New York April 26 Rep J Parnell Thomas of New Jersey urged Labor Secretary Frances Perkins resign. He called for Sid ney Hillmen to retire and for removal of communist sympathizers from government. He warned the national defense program would muddle through until these actions occur.
Pittsburgh drivers, helpers and warehouse workers from 13 large transfer storage firms walk out amid stalled talks on a contract. The strike aims to end a differential between local and long distance rates. At 5:42 sparks from a welder's torch in Iron Box 4 ignited tin containing a flame realted to the Johnson vonIce Company, causing about 25 in damage. At 6:43 firefighters responded to W H Payne’s property at 508 South Walnut Street where rubbish thrown on an old paint shop foundation caught fire. no property loss reported.
