Plant kept open as energy funding saves Butler Works
A federal ruling threatened to close the Butler County Cleveland-Cliffs plant but union pressure and up to 75 million dollars from the U S Department of Energy keep it running. Secretary Jennifer Granholm visited Butler Township to announce funding for converting the plant to an energy efficient GOES electromills and spoke with officials including U S Rep Mike Kelly.

Overdose at Lawrence County jail prompts probe
Lawrence County prison board plans to hear updates on narcotics found inside the jail that caused two overdoses overnight April 3 to 4, one fatal, with about 14 inmates testing positive for opioids. Jackson's charges pending in two counties
New Castleman jailed in Mercer County has three gun related offenses pending in Lawrence and Mercer County courts.
