In Williamsport Florida on April 22 two youths died when their car collided with a truck carrying 23 CCC enrollees. Several CCC members were seriously injured including Robert Carr and Ralph Caldwell with skull fractures. others sustained shocks and lacerations. All were hospitalized in Williamsport.

Philadelphia officials report more than 400000 dollars in back taxes owed by the Philadelphia and Reading Coal and Iron Company will be used to settle overdue teachers salaries. An additional over 200000 dollars will be paid to school districts next Monday as the strike over unpaid teachers ends in several counties.
