May Trade Bridge for an Automobile
County officials consider trading the Newport bridge for a first class automobile. The idea, approved by commissioners, would replace the unusable bridge once denied access by the Pittsburg and Lake Erie Railroad. Built to serve a southern county area, the bridge has since served as a muskrat diving board until an auto is proposed. The bridge was not built by current commissioners and has been surcharged to them by past county auditors.
