Riot that wasn’t at Lawrence County Jail prompts evacuation
Warden Stephan D. Kaftan called police fire and an ambulance to the Lawrence County Jail around 1 30 p m as inmates feared a recreation policy change. Windows were broken and an inmate injured none seriously. Kaftan said inmates may stay in cells or go to the yard while security was maintained and promised to reconsider the rule.
