Harrisburg April 19 The Baldi Peters bill legalizing horse racing in Pennsylvania and permitting use of pari mutuel machines was adopted by the House 111 to 69. The bill was sent to the Senate for concurrence today.
The New Castle schools will resume classes on Thursday morning April 20 after a vacation that began last Thursday afternoon. The Easter break is the last extended vacation before the summer adjournment in June.

A Chinese military communique reports an American missionary worker was wounded when 12 Japanese planes bombed Miyun, 50 miles north of Peiping, for a second time in 24 hours. The Y M C A yard and equipment at Miyun were wrecked, and bombs fell on the Y M C A in Tungshaw endangering 200 American high school students.
New Castle YMCA kicks off a 1000 member drive led by General Chairman Fred L. Rentz. A rally in the banquet room launched the campaign with 150 volunteers pledging early progress as teams prepare to post results and continue today. Rentz, who donated $50, vows to stay until the goal is reached, praised by YMCA President George E. Lyon.
Mrs. Warner Dave Huntington a 60 year old wife of a New York chemist died after leaping from the 15th floor of a Philadelphia hotel while under care following a prior suicide attempt. Police report four earlier attempts linked to a six year mental illness. Survivors include a son William H. Huntington of Baltimore and a daughter Mrs. Robert P. Bradford of Plainfield New Jersey.
Two British workers from Metropolitan-Vickers are jailed for espionage and sabotage in Moscow. William Lionel MacDonald, who pleaded guilty, received two years while William Henry Thornton was given three years. Appeals are planned, with hopes of commutation to expulsion. Other Russians are banished as part of the same case.
