London April 18 Winston Churchill slated to open opposition attack by moving a censure against the Labour plan to nationalize iron and steel. Conservatives and former ministers back the move after the Easter recess while Parliament reels from the government announcement.

Chicago April 18. A set of fingerprints from the severed arms of Suzanne Degnan six were studied by police experts. The prints were believed to be from the child and may help identify the killer. They will be compared with prints on a box of facial tissues near a window used by the slayer.
Washington April 18 Federal labor officials held slight hope for resumption of negotiations this week in an 18 day coal strike. Solid Fuels Administrator and Civilian Production Administrator warned that bituminous coal stockpiles are being depleted and reconversion would suffer if the walkout by 400000 miners continues. Labor Department said John L Lewis and soft coal operators may not meet again before next Tuesday at the earliest.
British occupation forces extend their authority to new zones in Japan, taking over Shikoku Island and Okayama and Tottori prefectures on southern Honshu. The newly controlled area totals six million residents.

President Truman sent a cablegram to Herbert Hoover urging his immediate return from Cairo to brief the American people on the famine emergency. Hoover and Truman will share a radio appeal at 7 15 p m tomorrow urging greater food assistance and conservation.
In a New Delhi report Sir Stafford Cripps of the British cabinet mission conferred with Mohandas K Gandhi for an hour after a prior meeting with Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Observers say Cripps may be serving as a liaison to foster direct talks between the All-India Congress and the Muslim League.

GUAM April 18 Two Japanese naval officers were found guilty of murder for executions of American war prisoners on Wake Island in 1942 and 1943. Capt Susumu Kawasaki and Lt(jg) Koroku Hori faced sentencing after a U S military commission verdict. Commander Hikaru Cho was acquitted and released.
