War department orders noncombatant forestry camps to be run on army lines with 950,000 unemployed to be housed in camps of 200 under a captain, two lieutenants, sergeants and camp police. Reserve officers may be called to active duty to supervise administration.

Harrisburg April 13 The Howell resolution to cut salaries for all state officials and employees was set as a special order for final passage next Monday in the House after Senate approval. It would exempt 750 dollars of each salary and take a 20 percent cut on the remaining balance. The unpaid portion of legislators’ salaries would also be reduced by 20 percent.
