Josselyn Slagle Named FAA Safety Team Rep of the Year
Josselyn Slagle, chief flight instructor at Haski Aviation, was named FAA Safety Team Representative of the Year. She will join other national winners at AirVenture 2025 in Oshkosh Wisconsin where she hasdreamed of attending since starting to fly nine years ago. Slagle, a Laurel High School graduate, pursued aviation after her mother Deb Houston encouraged a career in air traffic control amid a staffing shortage.

Laurel High School agri culture teacher Laura Palmer, FFA advisor, is one of four winners of the 2025 Outstanding Agricultural Education Teacher Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural Educators. Driver dies in Route 422 crash near Slippery Rock
A four vehicle crash on Route 422 near Copper Road in Slippery Rock Township killed 34 year old Shenango Township woman Kristen Ady DeSantis. The collision occurred as a pickup reportedly failed to stop causing a chain reaction. DeSantis’s male passenger was hospitalized, others reported minor or no injuries. The scene was cleared at 7 45 p.m. with responders coordinating a medical helicopter landing.

Accident halts business breakfast in New Castle
A worker fell through a roof during an awards breakfast at the Forward Lawrence Impact Awards, crashing onto the stage and sending the event into chaos.
