Ballard Mills 18 and Blaine McGinnis were also found guilty with 21 and life terms respectively. The jury returned verdict after 12 hours of deliberation. Mrs Mills was slain during a February ceremony in the cult’s mountain camp as she was bound on an alder-bed and choked while members chanted in an unknown language.
Eugene Meyer resigns as Federal Reserve Board governor effective upon a successor's appointment. President Roosevelt has not named a replacement. Meyer will likely remain until then. In New York Walter W. Stewart of Pomeroy and Company was urged to succeed Meyer amid discussions on international economic conferences.
Twenty nine new rural road positions were allocated this morning by R L Meermans, county employment superintendent. Crews were assigned to the Welketown energy road project under Foreman John Gross and to Henry Golder’s East Brook Perry highway work. The county resumed roadwork as weather improved.
A death record lists several individuals including Sahay J. Eagan aged 6 of 803 North Mercer Street and Charles Tl. Metzel aged 36 of 688 East Whrehington Street, along with Bening Stewart of Greenfield and Charles Tsehippert of Pittyburch in Mercer County.
Lawrence County boards expand recruitment for a forest army of 250 men with 18 to 25 year olds registering at the Y M C A. A three member selection committee will process names, while the M O A employment office handles logistics. Eligible youths may receive $30 monthly with $20 to be assigned to family, under federal rules.
J Wyle Brewster of the Bureau of Animal Industry reports a Tuesday dog attack in Pulaski township near the Ohio line. Five sheep were killed and thirteen injured at the Sraith farm after dogs fled toward Ohio. the owner fired, and authorities pursue an active canine control effort.
Pittsburgh moves to install John S Herron as mayor after Charles H Kline resigns. Herron will take office after a brief ceremony, to serve the unexpired term this year. The ascension is expected to trigger personnel changes across city departments and appointments.
Harrisburg April 12 The beer control bill remains bogged in capital wrangling as Gov. Gifford Pinchot resists its terms. Lawmakers moved the Sowers-Conner measure toward a conference committee with both chambers needing approval before final action. The proposal would tax beer at 1.24 per barrel, with revenue directed to unemployment relief for two years.
The city council approved new regulations eliminating parking on numerous downtown streets and introducing thirty minute and one hour limits. The rules take effect once the Police department installs new signs, which are being prepared and should be up soon.
The Akron disaster remains unresolved as the Lakehurst naval court of inquiry enters its third session. Survivors Lieutenant Commander Herbert Wiley and two enlisted men, Richard E. Den and Moody E. Erwin, among others, testify on the crash from 1,600 feet to the sea, noting girders snapped and engines hummed during the fatal three minutes, but no witness can state a definite cause.

Cecil Suber of Hilierest avex sustained pain bruises and lacerations when his motorcycle collided with a car driven by Robert C. Schein of Avalon at the intersection of Mill and North streets Friday evening. Suber returned home today with no broken bones.
In Moscow, April 12, Britons W. H. MacDonald admitted guilt as trials opened for eleven Russians and five British employees of Metropolitan-Vickers. Indictments list espionage, cabotage, bribery, corruption, and counter revolutionary charges. Allan Monkhouse Charles Nerawell W. H. Thornton John Cassay and A. W. Gregory plead innocence. The court recessed until 2 p.m. Continued on page two.
Chicago April 2 Patrick A Nash veteran Democrat is slated to be elected mayor to serve the remainder of the late mayor’s term. Nash agreed to take the post and would appoint a deputy mayor to handle routine duties. Nash is 70 years old and will take office tomorrow.
